In school, we need to write a book on a war. I picked the American Civil War. I wrote a chapter on a different point of view on President Abraham Lincoln. When I showed to my teacher for her approval she didn't let me use it because they said it wasn't history. They said my resources were probably written by someone in the South.

Today many U.S Americans think the South was he aggressor of the American Civil War, when really, the North were the aggressors. And that's were we got the saying: They Myth Of Abraham Lincoln.
Abraham Lincoln is thought to be the president who was against slavery and started an entire war that killed thousands and thousands of people just to end it. This is a total myth. President Abraham Lincoln was never against slavery he was all for it. In fact, there were all these laws that PROTECTED slavery.
Also, when Abraham Lincoln was running for office he claimed that he wouldn't harm the South's slaves but his condition was that they continued to pay their taxes and not secede. When Abraham Lincoln was finally elected, he raised the tax on the south.
This infuriated the South. They payed their extremely high taxes and got very little in return. So, the South seceded  which they had the right to do.
Abraham Lincoln did not like this. Since the South seceded they were no longer a big government. And that means their government lost a lot of power. Abraham Lincoln declared war. This war killed thousands and thousands of innocent people.
Now you're probably thinking, "But it's good because it was on slavery!" No. Just no. The American Civil War was never about slavery. In fact, here is more evidence for you all how still don't believe me: If you think about it, Abraham Lincoln was actually enslaving the South because slavery does not mean that they weren't payed. It was that they couldn't leave. And the South couldn't leave and neither could the South which shows Lincoln was enslaving them.

Now you know the myth of Lincoln.
